EAGLE BAY HOUSE

Location | Eagle Bay WA

This project was designed as a weekend retreat for a young entrepreneur seeking to unplug from urban life and reconnect with nature through surfing, music, and solitude.

Located in the bushland of Eagle Bay, the cabin embraces simplicity, off-grid living, and a strong connection to the surrounding landscape. The concept behind this coastal cabin is rooted in the idea of rhythmic retreat—a place where daily life slows down and aligns with the natural tempo of the land, sea, and creative energy. The architecture responds to the bushland site setting through a restrained material palette and low-impact design.

The structure consists of two distinct volumes—one for living and gathering, the other for sleeping and creative work—symbolizing the balance between activity and reflection. A restrained material palette, including polished concrete floors, white walls, and warm timber accents, was chosen for low maintenance and durability. Passive solar design, rainwater harvesting, and other sustainable strategies reduce environmental impact. Large windows and a north-east-facing deck frame ocean views, grounding the experience in the site’s natural beauty and offering a calm, self-sufficient space for both rest and creativity.
